Does Beyonc Own Ivy Park?

Could the Partition singer, Beyonce  have ventured into clothing and sports fashion? Does Beyonce own the famous sportswear brand, Ivy Park? This article gives you all the teeny tiny details.

Yes. Beyonce owns Ivy Park. Raised by an entrepreneurial woman and married to a business mogul Jay Z, Beyonce shares the innovative and creative spirit. She saw an opportunity in fashion and launched Ivy Park, which has taken the industry by storm, leaving no prisoners.

Find out more about this enterprise of hers in this article.

Ivy Park Launch and Brand Owners

Ivy Park was launched in the spring of 2016 by co-founders Beyonce Knowles Carter and Sir Philip Green. But like all successful businesses, there is much more work done than what comes to the fore. The partnership had been in operation since 2014. It was then known as Parkwood Topshop Athletic Limited. The initial clothesline wear included tops, bottoms, swimwear, and accessories.

On April 4th, 2019, Beyonce announced the relaunch of Ivy Park. Four years later, into business, the Lemonade singer went into partnership with Adidas, a world leader in sportswear and shoes and reintroduced the collection,

As is typical of relaunches, the collection was rebranded and adopted the name “Adidas X Ivy Park.” Daily Targum reported on the increased diversity of products available, now including a range of cream, off-white, maroon and orange garments, accessories, and footwear. Certain clothing stood out; tracksuits, cycling shorts, asymmetrical dresses, and sweatpants. Fashion critics and fans appealed to this new style, saying it coincided with the likes of street style.

It’s in the Blood

Beyonce’s fashion entrepreneurial spirit must be attributed to her mother, Celestine “Tina” Knowles. The American businesswoman started as a beautician and hairdresser. But later on, she launched the House of Dereon, a clothesline named after Beyonce’s grandmother. Beyonce and her mother used to work together to costume fit the members of the trio group Destiny’s Child. It must have been at these times when the love for fashion and clothing was passed down to her.

Ivy Park and Woman empowerment

If there is one aspect of Beyonce’s life that has been constant, it is her promotion of female empowerment. Especially through her songs. Fans (especially those with the XX chromosome) are known to recite her lyrics religiously.

In Ivy Park, the public anointed Queen has found another avenue to spread her love to her comrades in arms. Quoted in the May issue of Elle Magazine, 2016: “My goal with the line is to push the boundaries of athletic wear and to support and inspire women who understand that beauty is more than your physical appearance.” Ivy Park’s mantra seems to reiterate the same message: “We are IVY PARK. A new activewear brand co-founded by Beyoncé, made for women who want to look and feel at the top of their game”. Beyonce has embraced the power that she has in the public eye and uses every avenue of business or life to express her goals and stand with women.

Since it was launched in 2016, there have been several issues trailing Ivy Park. Co-founder Sir Philip Green was dogged by claims of sexual harassment, assault and racial abuse. The allegations had a negative impact on the company. In a classic power move, Parkwood Entertainment, owned by Beyonce, bought out the UK mogul’s share of the company. Parkwood Entertainment now has 100% percent ownership of the company. To ease the backlash and set the company rolling again, the relaunch with Adidas in 2019 was timely.

What Sayeth The Streets?

They say numbers never lie. Let’s get a perspective from those reported numbers. Fans and fashion lovers alike had been in anticipation of the clothing line for a while. The initial collection stock on January 18th was sold out within minutes, with fans making pre-orders for the next possible restock. This looks like success to us, and we bet Ivy Park is not going away anytime soon.
